Sean King Talks with Bloomberg about Taiwan President-elect Ma Ying-jeou

March 2008

Ma Ying-jeou has been elected President of Taiwan in March 2008. Ma Ying-jeou beats out the Democratic Progressive Party candidate Frank Hsieh 58 percent to 42 percent and promises initiatives that include direct flights to China, lifting restrictions on investments by Taiwanese companies, and allowing more visitors to Taiwan's mainland in the next year.

Sean King, the Vice President of Park Strategies LLC, the international business firm founded by former New York Senator Alphonse D'Amato, joins Bloomberg's Haslinda Amin to discuss the implications of the election from Taipei, including how Ma Ying-jeou's election will effect Taiwan's ties with China as well as U.S. relations and business interests.
