Constellation Energy Golf Classic (September 11 - 17)

The fourth Constellation Energy Golf Classic opened September 11, with a 1 p.m. pro-Am Shotgun Start. The tournament takes place at Hayfields Country Club in Hunt Valley, MD. Mayo A. Shattuck, chairman, president, and CEO of Constellation Energy made the event possible.

A golfing enthusiast, Mr. Shattuck has achieved distinction with a Top 10 Golfing CEOs, a ranking published by Golf Digest magazine. Mayo Shattuck is also involved in another golf-related charity organization, The First Tee – PGA Tour. This organization seeks to impart a positive impact on the lives of youth via the game of golf. By providing these young people with both learning facilities and educational programs, participants should develop positive character attributes and life-enhancing values. With Mr. Shattuck’s love for the game, there is no doubt he would take his exceptional ability and work to guarantee the success and creation of the tournament that is the Constellation Energy Classic (9/11 – 9/17/2006). In the tournament’s first three years, upwards of $1.5 million have been raised for charitable causes, something that would not have occurred if Mayo A. Shattuck had not lent his vision and commitment to achieving such a goal.

Mayo A. Shattuck’s strong sense of purpose coupled with Constellation Energy’s corporate culture makes the success of the Constellation Energy Classic inevitable. With Mr. Shattuck’s leadership, Constellation Energy developed and retained its ability to demonstrate its commitment to the core values of integrity, teamwork, social and environmental responsibility, and customer focus to direct its course of action during the leadership change in which he took command of the organization. For this, Mr. Shattuck engineered Co0nstellation Energy’s phenomenal turnaround, and today the company is about to become a Fortune 100 company.

The funds raised by the Constellation Energy Golf Classic (9/11 – 9/17) represents only a small part of what Constellation Energy gives to the community as well as other charitable organizations. Through the three areas of Corporate Giving, Volunteerism, and Employee Giving, Constellation Energy, led by president, chairman, and CEO Mayo A. Shattuck has administered funding for worthy causes. In 2005, Constellation Energy gave $10 million through the formal corporate giving programs alone, thus demonstrating its commitment to corporate philanthropy after only four years into Mr. Shattuck’s leadership.

Mayo A. Shattuck is much more than the president, chairman, and CEO of Constellation Energy. In addition to being an amazing golfer and the visionary behind the Constellation Energy Classic (9/11 – 9/17), he is also a great leader, and has always been. From his undergraduate years, where he served as captain of the Williams Tennis Team and president of the student government to the present, Mr. Shattuck also finds the time to serve in many different leadership roles. Currently, Mr. Shattuck serves as a director on the boards of both Gap, Inc. and Capital One Financial Corporation. Industry organizations on which he serves on the board of directors include the Edison Electric Institute, Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, and Nuclear Energy Institute. Mr. Shattuck also gives time and energy to the following organizations: The Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Advisory Council of Stanford Business School, the Board of Walters Art Museum, and as chairman of the Board of Visitors of the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
